Iron is an essential trace element for the human body. It is an important component of hemoglobin, myoglobin and others, and plays an important physiological function in the human body. The physiological functions of iron, the relationship between iron deficiency or excess and human health, status of anemia and iron nutritional, food sources and absorption and utilization of iron, etc. are summarized. Oriented by the human body′s actual demand for trace element nutrients, it is expected that improving the content of trace elements in soil through scientific application of trace element fertilizers, cultivating biological varieties rich in trace elements and building a "soil-plant nutrition-human health" industrial chain will become an effective means to solve iron nutrition deficiency.
